(simple right? ya, i'm that good... and humble!) just bookmark it!

i will keep both sites active for a few weeks just to make sure everyone has transitioned over to the new site. i have installed a plug in that allows you to subscribe to the posts by email. so, if you already received the updates by email on the old blog you will need to make sure and input your email address into the box on the NEW webpage... if you haven't subscribed before this is a great way to stay up to date when you don't have time to visit the site! or you can just stop by and visit the site anytime you want if you prefer! i just installed the plug in, so if there are some delays please be patient. And just keep checking the blog until you are regularly recieving email updates.

if you need to contact me, please email tobra@prayersforjulie.com

we hope this new blog/site will be an easier way for us all to communicate... it's still a bit of a work in progress but we're getting there!!!!

regular update coming later today...

thanks as always for your continued support. YOU are the reason this blog exists... it really started as a way to let close friends and family know what was going on... it has turned into a grand movement of praying people who have a common goal to heal julie. however, she wants to go a step further and make it a resource for others fighting this fight alongside her.. and we outgrew our abilities which is why i made the change.

greater things are yet to come my friends... i'm so glad you are along with us for the journey.

because of Christ -tobra

do you receive the blog by email?

i need to know how many of you and who you are, that receive the blog updates via email... if you DO, could you please send me an email at tobra@prayersforjulie.com and let me know...

i'm trying to determine if people have signed up for the blogger emails or if you are getting the updates through an RSS feeder....

IF you just come and regularly check the blog, you need to do NOTHING. this post only pertains to those who have updates automatically delivered to their email. soon, the blog will be hosted elsewhere and i'm trying to make sure we make this as smooth as possible for everyone...

i'll be at the hospital later this morning with an update, but gerald reported this morning that she was doing well....

keep up the prayers!
thanks!

things are good

sorry it's been a bit longer than usual between postings but as the saying goes " no news is good news " and in this case it's true. julie is doing well. as gerald says, "getting better everyday." blood pressure has been good, pain is manageable. she's walking, eating some, and even has a BIT of an attitude at times, so i know she's feeling well :) haha! i've heard rumors of friday being the target day for her release, but don't hold me to that. hopefully we will know more tomorrow. but as for now she is holding steady and doing well. the biggest thing is making sure she can eat food and tolerate it before we head home... so pray about that. and in general her healing and strength. we so appreciate everyone's concern and prayers. i speak for gerald and julie when i say - keep it up , we don't have enough words to thank you....

Monday morning update

I've been here at the hospital with Julie for a couple hours and she is doing remarkably well. They are managing her pain and she has had more relief since the surgery they did on Saturday to remove the fluid. Vitals are all good. She still has drainage tubes to make sure the abdomen stays clear. Her personality and spirits are great. We are watching Family Feud and making fun of the people's answers ;). Keep her in your prayers for healing and recovery. Thank you as always-

In ICU doing well

She is in her room resting. Stable so far and the surgeon was thorough. They have requested no visitors tonight but for those of you planning to stop by tomorrow she is back in her original room 201. No cause was determined for perforation but right now it is fixed so pray for speedy recovey and healing. Thank you all so much - tobra

Out of surgery

She is now in recovery. There was a dime sized perforation not related to her surgery last week. It was where the large and small intestine join, he did not operate there last week and the surgeon isn't sure what caused it but it has been repaired and they drained all of the leakage from the abdomen. She should now have relief from the suffering she has had for a week. She is stable an in recovery now after 4 hour surgery. Keep prayin and I will update again soon. Thanks - tobra

Friday evening - Not coming home tonight

They ran some tests today (xrays and CTscan) and found some fluid in julie's intestines. Surgeon says it could be some that she has taken in from drinking. If it isn't moving it could be the cause of her intense gas pains. They are keeping her until they can re-evaluate tomorrow and treat if needed. She has been taken off food/water until we know more. Prayers please.... We will keep you posted.

Still in quite a bit of pain

I'm putting out a request for prayer. Julie is stable but she is in a lot of pain from the gas. A LOT of pain. for the first time last night she hit a 10 on the pain scale and is not much better right now. I really can't describe how badly she is hurting but we are asking for prayer for relief please. The incision pain is managed well but the gas pains are the problem. The entire team of her care staff is working to control this so please pray for her. I will keep you posted. Thanks - tobra

room switch for the night

in case you were planning to stop by tonight she has been moved to room 215, everything is still going well and since she doesn't need ICU care anymore they have transferred her to a different room, the plan is still for her to return home tomorrow morning!

CHANGE OF PLANS - still doing balloons but she's goin home -

OK listen up! WONDERFUL NEWS! julie's birthday present is GETTING TO GO HOME!!! we are so happy! but we are still going to do the balloons and fill her house with them to celebrate!!! so if you want to participate and you are going to use Glenpool Flowers, they have her home address already for delivery so when you call in just THANK THEM when you order! We are so excited! After a VERY rough week this is fantastic ! thank you so much for the prayers! if you can't tell i'm a little ramped up here!!!

If you already ordered from a different florist, contact me and i'll give you their home address so you can change it...

and, again here is the info for Glenpool Flowers : 918-291-3275, David, Earl or Devin, Mylars $4, Latex $1.25, delivery fee waved for Julie Herron. they have her home address... if you can order today it would be great so we can have them delivered and at the house when she gets home!!!!

do you want to help with a balloon surprise for her birthday tomorrow?

tomorrow (thursday march 4) is julie's birthday! she will still be in the hospital so gerald and i are planning a surprise balloon drive for her for anyone interested in participating! our goal is to fill her entire room with balloons! you can send to Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Tulsa, OK attn Julie Herron Room 215. we completely understand if some of you are unable to take part, but if you can we would love your help! this should undoubtedly help brighten her day... CTCA does not have an in-house gift shop, but they recommend Glenpool Flowers, 918-291-3275, and the contacts there are Earl, David, or Devin. I spoke with them and they will wave the delivery fee since all are going to the same place if you order today or tomorrow morning. Mylar's are $4, latex are $1.25 each so they are very reasonable. And we really appreciate their willingness to help out with the waving of the delivery fee... make sure you mention that when you order!

i am also happy to report that she took four laps around the floor today with NO walker!!! that is amazing! she will be attempting more solid food today and everything seems to be progressing well. the surgeon is pleased with her recovery! keep up the AWESOME prayer work!

thank you so much!

good update from tuesday night

just wanted to let you all know things are going a lot better. she was able to eat a bite (literally) of food, which is really a big deal, and her digestive system seems to be up and working again. it has been over an entire week since she has had solid food, so it's been rough on her! but now that things are progressing she should be able to slowly start eating again and that's wonderful. the surgeon came to see them and said that as soon as they can get her eating regularly they will be able to remove the IV (which has been providing her with nutrition and hydration). they removed julie's catheter yesterday which she is very excited about. she also was able to take a short walk yesterday without the assistance of the walker, so another big step there! we are so pleased with her progress. this has obviously been a bit tougher than her prior surgeries, but we were prepared for that. and despite the difficulties she has encountered she is really doing a great job of working hard at her own recovery. we are all pleased with the exemplary care she is receiving from the staff at CTCA. God has provided her with a talented and compassionate set of doctors and nurses and caregivers. and of course He has been by her side through all of this... your incessant and heartfelt prayers have been heard and answered as we watch her recover from a difficult surgery. i will of course keep you posted throughout the rest of her hospital stay, and then we will move on to the next step of prayer and healing - removing this disease from her body. thank you all again for helping make this possible... your support is appreciated beyond measure.

monday afternoon update -better news

julie has been downgraded from the ICU to "floor status." this is really good news. they are leaving her in the same room but have listed her in better condition. we are grateful for this! breathing seems to be much better, and the blood pressure issues are under control with meds. she is VERY groggy though. they have her heavily sedated on pain medicine so many times when there are visitors she isn't even awake to see them.... hopefully in a few days she will be more alert and conversational for those of you wanting to come see her. but overall today was a big break for julie. finally! gerald has been pushing her hard, to walk, to do her breathing treatments, and while she may be upset with him at times :) it is all so very worth it in her improvement. i follow in his lead and make her do things she doesn't always feel up to doing, but afterward she is glad she did. we are so blessed to have an AMAZING care staff, nurses, tech's, doctors, everyone at CTCA. it's been so much easier with them there caring for her in such a gifted way. and of course, thank you to all who have been praying, across town and across the country. i say it every time, but that's because i mean it every time... THANK YOU, and Glory to God in her healing...

Monday morning update

Julie had a bit of a rough night with blood pressure issues spiking up but they are of course monitoring it and treating her. They are also concerned about pnemomia setting in so they are walking her a lot more to expand the lungs and as mentioned before she is on broad spectrum antibiotiocs. Please pray for those specific those specific things right now and her health in general. I will update again this afternoon. Thanks as always - tobra
